Maja Ferme is a Slovenian fashion designer, known mostly for her dream evening and wedding dresses, made from beautiful soft, comfortable, light falling silk materials, decorated with the finest lace and delicate crystals. Her clothes were worn by many Miss Slovenia winners at the Miss World pageants. She also manufactures special bags, that can with only one click very practically change from day bags into evening bags. Her specialty are also unique leather belts. Especially interesting is the jewellery with pearls and hundreds of millions years old Slovenian jewel, which can be a wonderful gift for special occasions due to reasonable prices. In her jewellery line Maja managed to combine the treasures of Slovenian mountains with traditional handicrafts, expressed through contemporary design into eternity. Maja Ferme is an award winning designer, recognized by international companies such as BSH Group, Unilever and Warner Bros Entertainment.

In addition to women's clothing, Maja also manufactures men's clothing for business, everyday and special occasions, made from the highest quality materials and superior craftsmanship. The common thread of her collections is: «Fashion and art…history…new technologies.».

Already as a child Maja was curious and very creative, she always loved to create. She says about herself that she was and still is a real small researcher. Aesthetics and art were always close to her. She was also influenced by her grandmother, who was very handy with a needle. She presented her first professional collection of evening clothes and jewellery in the first year of the faculty at an independent fashion show at Velenje’s Castle. The show was then hosted by all major Slovenian cities.

Maja has completed her studies at two faculties, she completed her masters and has even enrolled in a doctorate programme, but found that the programme didn't offer what she thought it would, so she rather focused on establishing a new “start-up” with an entrepreneurial group in which they innovate, using special technology, material, which is antistatic and very special. Suitable for pregnant women and children. They intend to have it patented.

Maja also educated herself in New York. She had fashion shows in Slovenia and around the world, not just in New York as the first Slovenian with a solo fashion show, but also in Los Angeles, London, China, last autumn (2014) in Paris, where she was invited as the most recognizable Slovenian fashion designer. She received the Elle award for the best creation. Her creations are worn by celebrities such as Monica Bellucci and famous opera diva Anna Netrebko.

About herself, Maja says: «Whatever you do in life and if you want to do that better than others do, it requires a lot of work, dedication, knowledge, effort and support from the right people. The efforts come to fruition, but all this is just the beginning, the best is yet to come.».

In designing, Maja is generally inspired by art, nature and everything that is happening around us, social changes. In dresses she tries to cover the description of a moment in which we live and create. But most of all she is inspired by painting. Her creations are mainly made of silk, which is a natural material and therefore the skin breaths very nicely in it and it is also very comfortable. To Maja it is very important that every woman who wears her clothes feels good in them. Silk is very soft and smooth, so dresses or skirts made of this material caress the body. It is a very sexy material, so women like to wear it. It also looks very gentle, soft, feminine and seductive. Silk combines comfort with aesthetics and Maja's moral principles, because it is a natural material and it doesn't pollute the environment as much an artificial material would.

Maja says that it is a challenge for her to dress for example Michelle Obama, because she is bold and sophisticated and elegant. One of her major icons is Madonna, who somehow also sets fashion trends and Maja would gladly dress her in her clothes. She would love to cooperate with Dita Von Teese, who is always very sexy and really knows how to wear glamorous high fashion clothes. The challenge for her is also Angelina Jolie, who besides her beauty excites her with her charitable spirit and that how much her family means to her. A major challenge would also be Oprah Winfrey, not only because of her figure, but mainly because she is a very charismatic woman. Her last challenge is Sarah Jessica Parker, who is one of the biggest fashion icons and knows how to wear and present any dress well.

Maja says that without the desire for autonomy and independence, nothing would have become true of her “Maja Ferme Fashion” story. Very important things are the desire for success and motivation. On the entrepreneurial path it is important to take advantage of every opportunity, as the old Slovenian proverb says: “The lost opportunity never repeats.” a successful entrepreneur must be connected to his/hers idea and should have a passion for the business; must be persistent as a rebel against the decline; must be talented to carry out activities and be focused on the customer and the product. He/she must have the courage to take risks and must continually innovate. Mistakes must be accepted and every entrepreneur must learn from them. The feedback and response to them are often the key to long term success. A clear vision is very important.

Maja doesn't come across as the most energetic person, she looks very calm, she is always smiling. She is a very dynamic person who can be a great example to everyone. To her it is important in life, that she is a great example to others, that she is persistent and in everything she does, she is ethical. About herself she also says: «I never get a vision without having the power to carry it out. Every person is unique and special, an important piece of the puzzle that is born in order to hand over other important message.».
