AIM AS A REAL GOOD START

NTF School of Textile Design student Sara Valenci presented her latest menswear collection at the last Ljubljana Fashion Week almost one month ago.

Her very artistic young designer talent is very fresh and new, yet very edgy. The aim of this collection is to introduce folk ornaments in contemporary clothing and thereby preserve the wealth of intangible heritage. Method of bridging barriers between traditional and modern sympathizes with Constructivism, which essential purpose is to combine art and functionality.

New textile treatments will recreate embroidery without embroidering with embossing and lamination technique. Dissolution of plastic will be presented as a new way of textile printing. Sharp forms oppose to sportive-leisurely look and form a branch of clothing which combines artificial, practical and functional.

In the short chat we had with Sara, she also revealed us her future plans, which include finishing her master thesis as well as getting a job abroad. All this combined with a curious «getting a yellow jeep».

Both self-portrayed and photographed by Robert Ribič in Ljubljana, Timi gratefully wears some of the outstanding masterpieces of Sara’s latest collection. Her bright, fresh, colourful, geometric, detailed, yet pop and provoking clothes are masterly combined with wonderful vintage accessories.
