MILK IS SO GOOD

By Friday, June 12, 2015

Started in late 2010, Milk Drinkers’ project came out in January 2012 with their debut six track EP "Leather Nation" and suddenly received support from The Bloody Beetroots with whom they share the same vision and affiliation to the Church of Noise. Their last release "Revelation EP" was released in 2014 and put a definite full-stop to the pursuit of their identity. Nowadays they share stages with the world's number ones.

Milk Drinkers are in its core, an anomaly. Since the beginning and till their end, their route shall take no regard to the labyrinth of socially acceptable. Complicated elaborations may be essential to the EDM trends but they stay pure, they honour their own code. An electronic music band by definition, but punk in their purpose, founded by Sam Cortéz and his crew. The point is not to bring order and clearance but to enlighten the world with their rebellious art of constructive destruction that doesn't know any conformity.

An interest in music that began way earlier though: «I was like eleven or twelve when I started fooling around with producer loops to build hip hop beats and write rap lyrics. I'm not really a DJ, I don't have any DJ skills, for me playing on CDJs is just the easiest way if I don't go live with my laptop.».

Their main goal as an artist is to break the wall between music genres, fight against boredom and to free the creative minds of all the lovers, fighters, sinners, artists, misfits, outcasts, losers and weirdoes, as they told us saying that «revolution begins in our minds. And music is the therapy.». Furthermore, when speaking of their inspiration, they say their biggest muse it’s life on its very own terms. They say it’s all «the fucked up feelings that make you cry happy or sad tears - that's why I wear sunglasses on stage, by the way». All feelings they’re constantly in seek of, and they even define themselves gifted of finding what they actually don’t like the most.

In five years time they see themselves probably doing the same things they’re doing right now, with the high hope of expanding their creativity and reach more people who will acknowledge their work and be able to take advantage of it. It's all about the revolution, they state once more.

Sticking up to close schedules, they say they don’t have much planned for this summer. In fact they are focusing on production for the new Milk Drinkers “stuff”, while in the meantime, they will team up with some friends and play a couple of DJ sets together, mostly venues and clubs they did before. «It’s for our souls. But who knows where that will brings us.». They also confirm, they’d love to perform back home in Space, where they would play for "them".

Talking about who they would like the most to collaborate with, they immediately say «with Big Sean: that would be dope! Tune about palm trees and white shirts, hard work and lavish life, gangsta shit.».

According to Milk Drinkers if you ignore some “shitty trends”, they believe Electronic Dance Music is going in the right direction all right. Electronica more and more collides with rock, metal, hip-hop and other cool genres, «the same kids that listen to techno can be seen head-banging on the punk rock shows, to me that's amazing. But some places like where we're from, promoters in clubs can be boring and selfish and most people don't even get the chance to keep experiencing something weird and different, because these events happen too rarely. You know that.».

As one of our last questions we always ask what our guest would be doing if not music. Milk Drinkers would like to inform us they’d be surely doing something “that hits good”!

Random question: “What do you personally think about Jack U & Bieber collaboration? In that meaning do you think that the new so called EDM is going in the new pop direction?” - «Yeah it's funny, I mean the song itself isn't even that bad. As I know Skrillex and Diplo, they don't give a shit about which genre they're being classified into, they're all about making cool weird stuff, and I think the collab with Biebs happened randomly. I think EDM is a culture of scenesters and has nothing to do with music genres in general.».
