Coming from a small
countryside town in the South West of England, I never expected my life at nineteen
to be like this. I have always had the dream to travel, with New
York, Milan and Asia high on my
list, so when I got the call from my booker to say I was signed in Milan I was overjoyed!
After living in London for one year, the energy in Milan
was a breath of fresh air: I was surprised at how small the city was in
comparison to London,
but I admired the way people thought and the character of the city.
In regards to work, Milan is a bit different to London, there is a lot of competition and
castings can be tedious. With all that, my favourite job comes down to walking
for BULGARI, the show included a piano in the sky, whilst ballet dancers performed
on the bridge between the mansion and gardens with a candlelit garden as
walkway. It was absolutely breathtaking, something you see in movies.
In my spare time, I
enjoy spending time with friends or exploring the city. Porta Genova provides
excellent entertainment, with a great range of bars along the river; aperitivo
is one of my favourite things about Italian culture and this is the perfect
place for that. The Italian food is to die for: pizza and gelato are two things
that absolutely must be tasted whilst on a visit to Milan.
I have never had a
dream to be a model, in fact I kind of fell into it. I’m from the English
countryside where this world doesn’t particularly exist, so when I was first
scouted as a bright-eyed, courageous thirteen year old, buying olive oil with
my friends everyone was a bit surprised.
My goals are to live,
learn and experience the world. I am a dreamer who lives in the moment. Modelling
opens the world the world to so many opportunities and I am endlessly thankful
for that. My biggest working achievements to date are Chanel, Stefanel,
Monsoon, Guess, Bulgari or seeing myself in ELLE Magazine for the very campaign.
Milan along with London, are recognized
internationally as two of the worlds fashion capitals. For me however they are
completely different, London
brings a very diverse sense of style; people are not afraid, and this can
sometimes bring some great or strange trends. Milan on the other hand brings a very chic,
simple and sophisticated look, with more emphasis put into the quality of the
clothing.
Milan Fashion week: what
can I say! Seven castings a day, in completely different parts of the city, and
hours of waiting. Every model loves fashion week! I am more of a commercial
model, so I don’t particularly experience these stresses. However, I did walk
for GRINKO this season, it was a pleasure. Walking the catwalk is always fun
and exciting, especially if you have a good team to experience it with.
It’s kind of hard as a
model to know what you will be doing in the next few days let alone where I
will be in five years! Eventually, I hope to create something sustainable, I am
still young but I hope and believe modelling will give me the opportunity to do
that. I have a lot of ideas in my head, and I will pursue them fully when I am
a little older. For now though, I am just living. Living and enjoying the
moments in life.
