HOW TO: BECOME A MISS

By Monday, November 02, 2015

Why did you decide to compete?

Patricia: When I got the invitation to the competition, I was in a period in life, when I felt that I achieved my goals and I needed new challenges in life. That is why I accepted the invitation to the competition as motivation, opportunity for personal growth and mentoring.

Tadeja: Given the fact that I am still very young, my participation in the contest for Miss Slovenia meant gaining new experiences and at the same time personal development. It seemed to me that I can learn a lot from this.

How does the process of the competition look like and how it affected relations with other girls – contestants?

Tadeja: The contest lasted 1 year, where for the last half year, we were mainly active only the finalists. We had a lot of trials and training. We have gained many new friendships and acquintances, which will definitely benefit us in the future.

Patricia: I must say that I have met a lot of nice girls. With some we have maintained contact and maintain good friendships and with others, we only rarely see each other at some events. Despite the fact that we became good friends, competiteveness was felt before the final selection and we mainly provided each only for herself.

Tadeja: Although, the last evening, we jointly lent patches for blisters to each other.

What separated you from the other girls for high ranking?

Tadeja: All the girls were great, but we were clearly estimated with more points, for which we have fought since we became finalists. In the end, the sum of the scores showed, that we paid a lot of attention to the project.

Patricia: I personally believe that with hard work and patience you can achieve a lot in life.

What do you think about the ideal of female beauty in today's society?

Patricia: I think that it is important that everyone feels good in their own skin no matter what. The society has created an ideal of beauty, but perhaps not the most realistic or healthy.

Tadeja: Despite public perception and criteria of beauty, that we have created, I think that every woman should create her own ideal regardless of what others say. To love yourself is the greatest ideal that we can achieve, that we are satisfied with ourselves and that we are grateful for what we have.

What is your daily routine?

Tadeja: I can't really say that I have a daily routine. What is constant in almost every day is that I attend classes for my last year of high school and train Latin American dances.

Patricia: Until my first coffee, every thing I do is on autopilot. For other parts of the day, just like Tadeja, I can't say I have a routine. Every day something new happens, sometimes also something unexpected and this gives life its special charm.

In today's world it is not enough that a woman is only beautiful, but shem ust also be well educated and knowledgeable. Do you feel and pressure because of this?

Tadeja: Not really. What I do, I do for myself, I learn because I feel the need for new knowledge, I like reading and trying new things. I highly support intelligence and knowledge, but I'm doing it for myself and not for society. In the end, I'm still a blonde.

Patricia: If I feel pressure to achieve the results, I am the one creating it. I don't really care about others expectations. I am curious and inquisitive and I appreciate people, that are well learned and knowledgeable, very much and I, myself want to become like that. This is what keeps me going.

What are your plans for the future?

Tadeja: There are very few things I plan in the long term, because ultimately it happens, that life leads you through unintended paths. Definitely my goal is to be a successfull dancer of Latin American dances, but in the first place is my education. My short term goals have upgraded a little since the final selection, because I got a lot of new opportunities.

Patricia: The next few years, I will focus manily on education – it is now a priority for me. Along with that, of great importance to me is networking and accumulating work experience.

What would you communicate to young women?

Patricia: Everyone loves young, beautiful girls. Be organized, dress up nicely, if that makes you feel good. But never forget that beauty fades. Build your relationships based on respect and integrity. Put yourself in the first place and always trust in yourself.

Tadeja: Believe in yourself and in what you do, and you will always succeed. This is my message to young women.
