A BIG CLUB CALLED WORLD
Dreaming big team DJ
duo Vanillaz «have
come a long way in a short space of time and have played big festivals and
venues across Europe with a whole host of big names including Fedde le Grand,
Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Deadmau5, Gramophonedzie, Chris Lake, Arno
Cost, Norman Doray, Funkerman, Pete Tong, The Shapeshifters, Yves Larock, etc.».
Always willing to
inspire people through their music and performances as their goal as DJs,
Vanillaz find their own inspiration right in music itself. When making a song
in fact, they say they usually know which direction the song will go, but the
track ideas are more of going with the flow or current inspiration. This last
one comes every day from regular things that directly happen to them, and also
the competitive market they find themselves in is an inspiration itself.
Started DJ-ing and
more generally with music when they just turned of age (Marko was 18 years old
and Miha was 19 years old), Vanillaz mention that they have no favourite place
where they performed in the past: «Just
a world full of dancing, happy people. World is a big club.» and wish they will perform where there
are people who respect and love their music. Surely though, the “it” festival
they would see themselves performing at would be Coachella or Tomorrowland.
In five years time
Vanillaz see themselves on top of the world and would really enjoy making a
collaboration with Calvin Harris.
Sticking to up-close
schedules, Marko and Miha will perform in Amsterdam, Ibiza, Spain, Austria,
Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia and «of
course at Ultra Europe and some crazy TBA places» this summer.
To our last question
“In which direction is the electronic dance music going in your opinion?” they
gave a clear and straight answer: «In
our direction.». No second thoughts left to take then, neither as they
greatly answered that «a good
track is a good track, it doesn’t matter which genre it is» when we asked them what they
personally thought about the Jack U and Bieber collaboration and if they
thought that the new so called EDM is going towards pop.
By the end of our
short interview you might wonder would they would be doing if not music. Not to
leave any wonders, we’ve been answered to that question too, this time with a
surprisingly interesting «Ballet
dancing?».
Go check them out on
their main website, and don’t forget to follow them on
all their socials: Facebook, MySpace, Soundcloud, Twitter and YouTube.
