ARE YOU... "READY TO WEAR" - IT?

By Friday, September 11, 2015

Whether your summertime location has been the sea, a mountain or yet a tour through a metropolitan city, it sounds like vacation time is apparently over. If you count that period of time as proper relaxing, laying in the sun or chilling on the seashore, well, you might be right. But if you think of it as the apotheosis of fun times, you might want to think over again. In fact, September is one of the most important months of the year for us all fashion victims.

Along New York Fashion Week, which started three days ago with three shows in less than three hours, let’s just celebrate a month full of amazing fashion events all over the globe. Following up, we’re having a very inside look of British innovations at London Fashion Week from the 18th to the 22nd. After that we’re moving on to one of the main capitals of fashion: Milan’s Ready to Wear shows will begin on September 23rd and will end up on September 28th to pass the baton to Paris, which will definitely defend itself majestically during their nine days of Women’s Spring Summer 2016 collections shows and presentations.

And of course, we all want to be perfectly prepared to face this full-scheduled month. Coming up are some of the main trends for this fall, in order to give you the perfect look for each time of the day, whether it is mornings, afternoons or nights.

Common to all of the looks, the most important thing to take care of are the so called “after-summer-effects”. By saying this, it means to take care of all those skins which after a few days of sun creams rubbed on at the beginning of the holiday, have taken quite enough confidence with the sun itself, not to longer be protected and hydrated. In order to fix these dry and peeling skins, before applying any other make-up products, you might want to moisturize very well all your face (and body) with some hydrating cream. Considering the face as the center of our focusing, any moisturizing cream will do, but pretty much suggested is Charlotte Tilbury’s Charlotte’s Magic Cream. «A break-through, multi-tasking ingredient, the BioNymph Peptide Complex, fights the ageing process on all fronts: it stimulates collagen production and cell energy and fights free radicals, to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and smooth the skin. A hyaluronic acid booster called Sodium Hyaluronate floods skin with moisture, re-plumping the skin. And an infusion of rose hip oil and vitamin E bring your complexion back to life.».

After that touch of magic applied to all the three looks we want to obtain, step number two is to jump straight in each proper look.

According to most of the catwalks seen last year as a forecast of this autumn trends, look number one consists of enhancing and endorsing the attracting power of the lips, while leaving all the rest of the make-up as a silent background. In this case, red makes its own revival. «Red lipstick doesn't sound all that revolutionary, but when it goes away for a few seasons in favour of clear balms and nude tints, then makes its comeback in big, not-so-expected ways on the fall runways, well, it's what we needed to get us excited about the make-up bag staple all over again.». The red colour palette can go from a matte, brick shade to a more intense crimson shade. Combine the lipstick with the same shade of lip pencil in order to trace the right shape we want to give them, before filling them in with colour. If we are done with the lips, still not ready is the whole “side dish”. A light touch of foundation on the forehead, down the bridge of the nose and on the chin as the face’s base and a little brush stroke of powder blended out towards the cheeks to fix the whole make-up are enough to complete the basis. Fade in some contouring powder underneath the apple of the cheekbones in order to give them a stronger stand-out. Even though eyes are “left behind” it doesn’t mean they don’t need any attention. With a V-shaped touch of nude-tones on the outer corner of the upper eyelid just to give the eye a better shape and a little touch of not too dark mascara, the look is now ready.

Look number two is the rule to explain that black eyeliner never goes out of style. Whether you wear it as a soft line spreading along your lash line or extend it way out of the outer corner of your eyes, a fully black eyelid or even get more creative and make a composition of little strokes all over the upper lid, black smokey-eyes, popped out metallic lashes or yet be more sober and mark just the waterline of the upper and lower lid, the most important thing is that you combine it with a good touch of a dark mascara. If the eyes are now the centre of the look, the lips and the rest of the face need to be more silent. Reversing the role is the key to this look’s success. Lips will need a very soft nude tone lipstick, either matte or glossy according to the time of the day when you’re wearing it: day or night. Leave the rest of the skin plain base as it is, only making sure to cover eventual red area due to sunburns or any other skin imperfection. How to do it? Cover it up with a very light touch of foundation after adjusting any flaws with some concealer. Just a quick tip: if the blemishing or redness is too evident, use a green toned concealer to fix it up as it is the complementary colour of red, and it will eventually make the blemishing fade away. Underlining your cheekbones with a darker contouring powder will make them pop up and make you look tremendously gorgeous, that’s guaranteed!

Speaking of cheekbones, let’s consider it this time as our main focusing of the third look. Yes, according to this season’s trends, another must wear make-up avoids the use of the contouring techniques and promotes the use of flushed skins. In order to obtain this look, as usual, cover up each skin impurities or discoloration with a concealer and uniform the skin tone with a good foundation, always remembering to be “soft”. Nude is the keyword to both your eyes and lips, since they will no longer be the main attraction of your beauty. Use a lip pencil to shape your lips and fill them in with a matte lipstick. If your lips look dry, as a further result of summer, use a lip balm before applying any other lip products to scrub the peeling skin and make it soft and smooth. And now the eyes. This time use a nude tone only to enhance just a little bit the glowing of your eyes. Blend it in on the upper lid and use a little bit darker shade on the outer corner of the eyes and underneath the lower lash line. If you want you can use a white eyes pencil on the lower inner waterline to open up the eyes. Last but obviously not least, our main subject: the cheekbones. Use a light not-too-pinky matte blush and blend it in on the apple of your cheekbones and just a bit underneath the top of your cheekbones themselves. A light brick-orange shade will definitely be a winner for this look. You want to know more? Just to be more accurate and trendy, you can use the same shade of colour also as your eye shadow, always being soft and fading. Apply it all over the upper eyelid and intensify the touch on the outer corner of the upper eyelid and underneath the lower lash line. A white eyes pencil applied on the lower waterline is always a great trick.
