WHEN BIOLOGY SETS FOOT OUTSIDE ITS CELL FOR THE FIRST TIME

The first time I saw Sam was when he was performing after Pendulum. I heard about him lots of times and knew a bit of his tracks. His stage name was pretty memorable so it was easy to remember him – The Milkdrinkers. When I saw his performance for the first time, I was thrilled. He had this rock n roll rock star energy going on, without a single care on this world. His playlist was a mixture of electro house, dubstep and rock. Which explained his attitude. He made an impact on me with his last song that was completely out of typical electronic genre, Arctic Monkeys. At that moment I thought he was pretty awesome.

A few months later, Sam contacted me on Facebook, told me he listened to some of my work and would be happy to get to know me. I accepted the invitation and we started hanging out. He told me about this movement, about this idea he had for Milkdrinkers. He said he thought GLIA was a cool stage name so he wanted to find out more about me. After a few months of hanging out and discovering our similar perspective about music and life, we became frineds. He invited me to go perform in Valencia, Spain with him. It was a gig organized by XCEED, which is an organization aswell as the mobile app, with an interesting story. I was thrilled and accepted the invitation. This was my first international gig, and it was as exciting as it can get.

To tell you a bit more about Xceed that has an inspiring story for young generations all over the world. It is a group of friends, that all went for an Erasmus exchange in Valencia, Spain. That is where magic started to happened, they all found their similar interest in music and started to organize different events all over Valencia. One thing led to another they established a brand XCEED, which also developed into a mobile app, where you can buy tickets for parties all over the world! From San Francisco to Ljubljana! And this does not finish here. When you buy a ticket through their App you also donate a few % of your purchase to charity.

This organization got in touch with Milkdrinkers a few years ago, and this year was the first year Sam invited me to go with him. It was WOW GLIA x MILKDRINKERS B2B POOL PARTY. In this A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. fancy MACCAO club.

The first time I set foot in it, I got chills all over my body. There were happy people partying everywhere, there was deep house – Ibiza like music from DJs from the UK, Spain and of course Slovenia. The party took place on the 5^th of July 2015. I gout nervous by the facts that this was the first time GLIA performed outside her home country. It was something that was out of my comfort zone. I was nervous from the tips of my toes to the top of my hair. Sam saw that I wasn’t quite relaxed so he came to me and told me things that changed my view on performing and about my professional career. I have learned a lot about being as professional as you can be from him, which I am really grateful.

My set was a mixture of Electro house and Complextro. Sam dropped a few music bombs on the audience after me. Even though it was nerve racking for me we all had a great time, Xceed group was satisfied with my performance as well as the audience.

Valencia was not only a great – first step to the wild experience for my professional career it was also spend quality time with Timi, who was such a dear friend and decided to support me even 1000km from home. And also with other students all over Europe, that were partying with us. I have learned about their way of life, and heard their experiences with travelling, music taste and perspective on music.

I would like to also mention that me and Sam are still in good relations. And there is a WOW party coming up on the 4^th of September in our country in the capital of Ljubljana, club CIRCUS. Milkdrinkers, Cheezy, Palo and me – GLIA will make sure you aren’t bored on your Friday night. The gang is back in town so get ready for a total no rules nervous breakdown.

There will be NO SOBER GUESTS. NO IRONED SHIRTS. NO BORING PEOPLE. NO CUSTOMER CARE. THIS IS WOW. THIS IS US.
