"LA MILLEFEUILLE"

By Thursday, December 03, 2015

She loves ultra feminine pieces outlined by cuts taken from the male wardrobe. She wears gowns layered in chiffon and organza veils glided on the body, which create a sinuous silhouette. She carries tuxedo dustcoats in multi-layered lace, doubled pashmina coupled with lace, raffia, lasered canvas or the new military-style organza. She graces jacquard prints in floral motifs with red accents on a macramè background. She walks in periwinkle shirts with masculine cuts.

She is the Ermanno Scervino Spring/Summer 2016 Collection’s woman.

The one we can call a timeless master of prêt-a-couture walked the Milan’s Ready To Wear Fashion Week runway on September 9th at the Ermanno Scervino's court. The Tuscan designer's knowledge and proximity to the top high-end Italian fabric makers was clear through the georgette and layered chiffon gowns, innovative military style organza, and the intricate mosaic pattern resort skirt ensemble. A few pieces - the crystal-studded, knitted white tube dress with the jacket to match and the crochet lace midriff with matching tube skirt - could easily be worn on someone's wedding day and be passed down through the generations.

Scervino has been successfully explaining his more classic fashions to a more youthful set: further emphasized by all the burgeoning fashion-blogger-icons in the front row who gave him a hearty applause at a jam-packed show of fans. In fact, he also reached out to the younger set with some safari style jumpsuits, a sleeveless trench vest, micro short suits in ecru, and a spicy leather tank dress with macramé stitching.

Pastel nuances, impalpable muslins, safari style jumpsuits. Handmade oversize knits in mélange yarns with precious embellishments. A delicate ensemble of subtle coloured multi-layered laced gowns crossed the runway between the guests' applauses, interrupted sometimes by the fire red noted floral prints, along the military greens combined with pastel pink.

Models were walking in either super high heels or embroidered Moroccan slippers, for a sure woman who knows how to be feminine even while staying with her feet on the ground. Platforms and sandals in neutral tones were the only variation.

Ermanno Scervino makes you dream at every collection: you feel like you can wear it real life, as an every-day  outfit as well as for ceremonies, a gala event or to make people staring at me while walking down the streets. He dresses a confident woman, that’s for sure, and we’re absolutely in love with it.
